A little self-promotion

While we still have only a few days left, I wanted to squeeze in one more blog post while we wait. I am the world’s worst at marketing and self-promotion because I fully embrace that I am extremely introverted, very self-conscious and super shy, so this is very outside my comfort zone, but here goes…

If you haven’t already, please consider following me on Pinterest. I have many boards, most of them writing-related, but there are also some random real-life things too: Food, recipes, inspiration for our home remodeling and landscaping ideas, just to name a few. It’s all very eclectic. The writing boards are fun because they offer visual interpretations of how I imagine my characters and settings. Nothing is ever exactly how I see them in my head, but they come close enough to give you the right idea if you want to supplement them to the reading. If you haven’t checked it out already, here’s a link to the board for This Unexpected Thing!

Next up, I do have an Instagram account but it is inactive and basically hasn’t been touched since I created the account a few years ago. It just wasn’t something I felt attracted to at the time. I made like two posts and literally never touched it again. Somehow since then, I have racked up a whopping THREE whole followers, so yeah, it is a VERY sad situation over there. I’m thinking of trying to start posting and finally bringing the account back from the dead. If you have an IG account and wouldn’t mind helping me get started, please consider heading on over and giving me a follow. I would love it and be super grateful.

And lastly, I have a YouTube channel that I would love for you to check out. I don’t post actual content, so don’t go thinking I’m trying to plug myself as a “YouTuber” because, nope. Not even close. It’s all playlists, nothing more. Up until now, it has strictly been for my own use and mostly set to private, but I thought you guys might actually enjoy it too so I opened up some of the settings. I have several playlists related to my writing and different stories. Think of them more like “soundtracks,” so to speak. There’s one for This Unexpected Thing. This is the only book I’ve written where I include movie and song titles in the manuscript, so quite a bit of this playlist is actually representative of what is in the book. Cordelia, the main character, was alive and grew up in the ’80s, so there are lots of old 80’s movies and music references. Julian, her love interest, is alive and living in modern times, so there are also some references to the music he listens to as well. It took me a while to compile this playlist because as a kid of the 80’s myself, I kept getting sucked down rabbit holes and spent countless hours reliving the tunes of my youth. I think you’ll enjoy it too. So please go check it out and subscribe if you wish.

That’s it for now! I will send out links on release day once the book goes live for sale, so keep an eye out for those both in your email and also on my Facebook page! Thanks!
